Author Biography

Stefano Arata, Sapienza University of Rome

Stefano Arata (1959-2001) was a full professor of Spanish Language and Literature at Sapienza University of Rome. His research focused on Spanish Golden Age drama and on its heritage in Federico García Lorca’s theatrical works. He was the author of monographs on Miguel Sánchez «el Divino» (1989) and on the theatrical manuscripts of Madrid’s Biblioteca de Palacio (1989). He produced a bibliography of Iberian literatures (1992). He published several critical editions of Spanish texts such as Miguel de Cervantes’ La conquista de Jerusalén por Godofre de Bullón (1992), Guillén de Castro, Las mocedades del Cid (1996) Lope de Vega, El acero de Madrid (1992) and Pedro Calderón de la Barca’s El alcalde de Zalamea (1989). After working as a researcher at the University of Pisa, he became the youngest associate professor in the roman universities in 1992. He was visiting professor at the University of Toulouse-Le Mirail and taught at the Universities of Salamanca and País Vasco.
