Author Biographies

Carmen Gallo, Sapienza University of Rome

Carmen Gallo è ricercatrice di Letteratura inglese alla Sapienza Università di Roma. Si occupa di poesia e teatro early modern (con particolare attenzione ai rapporti tra religione e letteratura), dell’analisi del testo poetico nella critica anglo-americana, di T.S. Eliot, di Beckett e più di recente del teatro britannico contemporaneo, in chiave politica e ambientale. Ha pubblicato il volume L’altra natura. Eucarestia e poesia nel primo Seicento inglese (Pacini 2018, Tempera Book Prize) e una nuova edizione di All is True, or Henry VIII (Tutto è vero, o Enrico VIII) di Shakespeare in Tutte le opere, a cura di F. Marenco (vol. III, Bompiani 2017). Sua è anche la traduzione del dramma contemporaneo di Caryl Churchill, Lives of Great Poisoners (Ritratti di figure con veleno, in Opere, a cura di P. Bono, Editoria&Spettacolo 2020). Il suo ultimo lavoro è una nuova edizione commentata di The Waste Land (La terra devastata) di T. S. Eliot per il Saggiatore (2021).

Lorenzo Marmo, Universitas Mercatorum

Lorenzo Marmo is Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies at Universitas Mercatorum, and he also teaches film at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”. He obtained his PhD from Roma Tre University in 2014, with a dissertation on cinema, photography, and urban space in the first half of the Twentieth Century. In 2017 he was Lauro de Bosis Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University, with a project on cinema and urban culture in postwar Italy. He is the author of Roma e il cinema del dopoguerra. Neorealismo melodramma noir (Bulzoni 2018). He is also co-editor, with Ilaria A. De Pascalis, of the n. 20 dossier of the journal «Imago. Studi di cinema e media» dedicated to the surfaces, boundaries and formats of contemporary images, and with Carlo Baghetti and Jim Carter of the volume Italian Industrial Literature and Film. Perspectives on the Representation of Postwar Labor (Peter Lang 2021).
