Author Biography

Marco Folin, Università di Genova

Marco Folin is an urban historian whose interests focus on Italian urban culture, architectural imagery and the relationship between art and politics in early modern history. Full Professor in History of Architecture at the University of Genoa, he is currently PI of the program PRIN2022 Building Civic Identities. Towards an Atlas of Communal Palaces in Italian Urban History (12 th-20 th Centuries); and co-ordinator of the University of Genoa unity within the program PRIN2022PNRR Crafted in Stone / Recorded on Paper: Promoting the Architectural and Archival Heritage of the Small Italian Municipalities (13 th 20th Centuries). Among his recent publications: Ferrara estense. Architettura e città nella prima età moderna (Oligo, 2022); and, with I. Balestreri, Una nazione giovane. L’Italia dei palazzi municipali, 1861-1911 (Aistarch, 2024). Since 2024, he has been the editor-in-chief of SRSA.
